How to back up and restart a server on a schedule

Create a task on the server's "Scheduler" tab: ProximaClient will back the server up, restart it or send a command to its console on a schedule. Tasks run only while the app is open.

Create a task

  1. Open the server, the "Scheduler" tab, and click "Create task".
  2. In the "New task" window, fill in "Name" and pick the "Task type": "Start server", "Stop server", "Restart server", "Send command" or "Backup".
  3. For a backup, choose "What to archive" ("Entire server contents", "Only selected paths" or "Everything except selected paths"), the "Folder for archives" and how many archives to keep: "0" means no limit. For a command, type it in "Command".
  4. In the "Schedule" block, pick "Interval", "Daily", "Weekly", "Monthly" or "Cron expression" and set the time.
  5. Leave "Enable right after creating" ticked and click "Save".

Check it: the task shows "Next run" and a time. "Run now" runs the task at once, and after a run the task's row shows "Success", "Error" or "Skipped" with the time.

Since app version 1.3.0

If something didn't make it into a backup, the task says "Left out of the archive — files in use or inaccessible" and names the files.

To be told about every run, turn on the "Scheduler task fired" notification in the app settings.

On a Minecraft server, "Make a backup" on the "World" tab also backs up one world (the server's world).
