How to play modded Minecraft with friends

Create a server in ProximaClient on the Forge, NeoForge or Fabric core, install mods on the "Mods" tab and give your friends the server address. Each friend needs the same mods and the same loader for the same version.

How to create the server and get its address is in the main guide. This page covers only what changes with mods.

A server with mods

  1. When creating the server, pick the Forge, NeoForge or Fabric core at the "Build" step. Choose the loader by your mods: each mod's page says which loader it is for.
  2. Pick the Minecraft version your mods are released for.
  3. Open the server and its "Mods" tab. Click "Mod catalog" to find a mod in the Modrinth catalog, or drag mod files into the window.
  4. Restart the server so the mods load.

Instead of a custom build you can pick "Template" when creating the server: a ready-made build with the core, version and mods already chosen.

What your friends install

Your friends install the same loader (Forge, NeoForge or Fabric) for the same Minecraft version and the same mods as the server. Server-only mods are not needed on their side; the mod's page says so. If a friend can't get in, compare their mods and versions with the list on the server's "Mods" tab.

Voice chat

Voice in the Simple Voice Chat mod goes over UDP separately from the game and needs a second tunnel: how to set up voice chat.
