How to open a Dynmap map to friends
Create an HTTPS tunnel in ProximaClient to the Dynmap map's port, 8123, and send your friends its link: the map opens in any browser, on a phone too.
Steps
- Install the Dynmap plugin on a server running the Paper or Purpur core (how to install plugins) and restart the server.
- Open
http://localhost:8123in a browser: the map should open for you. If it's empty, give Dynmap time to render the world, or rundynmap fullrender worldin the server console, whereworldis the world's name. - In ProximaClient, open "Tunnels" and click "Create tunnel". If you already have tunnels, it's the "+" button above the list.
- In "Protocol", pick HTTPS: "A website or API at a link of its own", and in "Destination address" enter
localhost:8123. If you changed the map's port on thewebserver-portline ofplugins/dynmap/configuration.txt, enter that port. - Click "Create tunnel" and copy the link with the "Copy public address" icon.
Check it: open the link on a phone over mobile internet, and the map should open.
What to keep in mind
- The map opens only while the server and ProximaClient are running.
- The map's tunnel is one more tunnel next to the server's: if your plan doesn't allow that many at once, the server starts without its tunnel; see the tunnel limit.
- The map loads many images on every pan and zoom, so it uses up your plan's traffic faster than the game. How much has gone is shown on the "Traffic this month" line of the "Tunnels" page.
Since app version 1.3.0
To let only your own people see the map, close the link with a login and password.
