"A Microsoft Visual C++ system component is missing"

Install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) from Microsoft and restart ProximaClient: without this component, tunnels on Windows won't start.

On the "Tunnels" page the app shows "A system component is missing" with "Tunnels need the Microsoft Visual C++ component, which is not installed. Install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) from Microsoft and restart the app. If that does not help, contact support. Creating and managing servers works as usual.", and when you try to open a tunnel, "A Microsoft Visual C++ system component is missing. Retrying will not help — install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) and restart the app."

What to do​

  1. Open the Visual C++ Redistributable download page on Microsoft's site.
  2. Download the x64 version and install it. Windows asks you to allow changes.
  3. Fully quit ProximaClient: right-click its icon in the tray and choose "Quit". Then start the app again.

Write to support through "Tech support" in the app menu with the exact error text and when it appeared.
