How to open a port from the terminal with proximamp

Sign in to your ProximaMP account and open a port with one command: proximamp tcp 25565 prints the address other people use to connect to this computer and holds the tunnel while it runs. How to install the program is on the page "How to install proximamp".

proximamp login

The command asks for your ProximaMP login and password; the password is not shown as you type. Through VK ID or Yandex ID:

proximamp login --vk
proximamp login --yandex

The command opens the browser and waits until you finish there. On a server without a browser, sign in with a code from your phone or with a device key.

If you have no account, create one:

proximamp signup

The command asks for a login, an email and a password, then for the code from the email. If it closed before the code came, confirm the email:

proximamp verify <login> <code>
proximamp verify <login> --resend # send a new code

Reset a forgotten password (resetting the password):

proximamp password reset

The sign-in is kept on this computer:

proximamp whoami # which account you are signed in to
proximamp logout # sign out

Open a port

Start the server or the site and open its port:

proximamp tcp 25565 # Minecraft: Java Edition and other programs on TCP
proximamp udp 19132 # Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and other programs on UDP
proximamp tcp 25565 --udp # one address for both TCP and UDP
proximamp http 3000 # a site or an API: an https://… link

The first line is the address: send it to the people who will connect. Which protocol a game needs is on the page "TCP or UDP". A site that serves https itself and a service on another computer of your network (another device or server) open like this:

proximamp https 8443 # a site that serves https itself
proximamp tcp 25565 --host 192.168.1.20 # a service on another computer of the network

The tunnel works while the command runs, and Ctrl+C closes it. If the connection drops, the tunnel reconnects to the same address by itself while the account holds it. The next run for the same port gets the old address back while your account holds it (how long an address is held). A new address instead of the old one:

proximamp tcp 25565 --new

Tunnels and plans:

proximamp ls # the account's open tunnels
proximamp close t1 # close this computer's tunnel t1
proximamp plans # the plans
proximamp buy <plan> # buy a plan from the proximamp plans list

proximamp ls shows this computer's tunnels with their numbers, and tunnels opened in the app or on another computer without one. proximamp access sets who may connect to a tunnel: access by IP and a login on an HTTPS link. More on the plans is on the page "Plans and payment".

To keep tunnels working without an open terminal and after a reboot, install the service.

Under the address the command prints each request to an https://… link as a line; what you can do with them and how to see them in the browser is on the page "Command-line inspector". What developers do with such a link: payment webhooks, a backend for a phone and a site for a client behind a password.

Check

Ask someone to connect to the address from the first line, and open an https://… link in a browser on your phone over mobile data. If it doesn't work, open "Friends can't connect".
